Lead the projects of tomorrow

The University of the Sunshine Coast’s (UniSC’s) engineering project management postgraduate programs are designed to help students lead and create engineering solutions that redefine innovation. We’ve combined contemporary engineering education and practices with the leadership knowledge and experience you need to become bigger than the technical skills in your repertoire.

Delivered entirely online*, this program is built for working professionals who want to deepen their expertise in managing engineering projects across diverse industries. Our engineering project management postgraduate programs have been developed in consultation with UniSC’s engineering advisory board of industry professionals and are taught by experts with extensive and varied engineering project management experience.

You’ll gain critical skills in:

  • Engineering leadership
  • Technical project management tools and platforms
  • Planning and managing projects at scale
  • Contracts and procurement
  • Industry-wide standards and principles
  • Risk analysis
  • Sustainability implications

Students will graduate with the understanding of technical nuances and the business expertise to ensure projects are run smoothly, effectively and sustainably.

“The technical side of engineering is just the beginning. We’re looking for graduates who can ask the right questions – like the ‘5 Whys’ – and communicate with confidence on site. The ability to manage clients, identify opportunities, and solve problems in real-time is what sets master’s graduates apart.”

–Dr Rickey Donald, Engineering Consultant, delprosa

Programs

At UniSC, our Master of Engineering Project Management will prepare you to thrive in both regional and global engineering environments and equip you with the theories, concepts and practices to form senior-level project management skills. You’ll complete six courses and two projects over the course of one year (full-time) or two years (part-time) where you’ll:

  • Learn from industry experts and develop strong industry connections
  • Develop specialised knowledge in engineering project management
  • Gain the tools to design, plan, and deliver large-scale initiatives
  • Explore global perspectives in sustainability, risk, and innovation
  • Solve complex, real-world problems through case studies

Not only will you be ready to lead, but you’ll be prepared to independently and collaboratively develop creative solutions to complex engineering challenges. Our innovative curriculum will dive into project management modelling procedures, observational methods, design methodologies and tools, how to think through environmental impacts and utilise best practices with emerging technologies.

With the flexibility to study from anywhere and the opportunity to apply your learning immediately to your engineering career, this degree is ideal for engineers ready to step into leadership positions or broaden their career horizons in Australia and beyond.

The Master of Engineering Project Management is also provisionally accredited by Engineers Australia and is recognised by 18 countries under the Washington Accord.

Make your next career move count with UniSC’s Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management. Completed in as few as eight months full time, you’ll curate your certificate to your interest areas by choosing four courses from our master’s curriculum designed in consultation with industry professionals.

Courses to choose from include:

  • Engineering Project Management Principles
  • Engineering Contracts and Procurement
  • Engineering Project Execution
  • Integrative Group Project
  • Risk Engineering
  • Engineering Project Resource Planning

You’ll explore real-world case studies, develop critical thinking, and graduate with the ability to manage risk, sustainability factors, quality, and resources in diverse engineering environments.

If you decide to pursue the master’s program after you complete the graduate certificate, you may transfer your graduate certificate credits to the program. This means you only need to complete four courses to earn your master’s degree.

Graduate Certificate: 4 total courses. 8-12 months.
Masters: 8 total courses. 1-2 years.
